How to delete Autocomplete history
This page is for users who are looking to delete stored Autocomplete data such as usernames, passwords, web addresses, and search queries. It is quite common for users to confuse Autocomplete with Autofill, but they are not the same. If you want to clear Autocomplete information in the address bar, see clearing the address bar history. To proceed, select your browser from the listing below and follow the steps.
Open Internet Explorer.
Click Tools Internet explorer tools icon in the upper right-hand corner.
Select Internet Options from the drop-down menu.
Under the Content tab, in the Autocomplete section, click the Settings button.
Within this window you can select the fields in which you'd like to store Autocomplete data by using the check boxes.
Once you've made your selections, click the Delete Autocomplete history... button.
Check the boxes for areas whose history you'd like to clear then click Delete.
Click OK twice to exit the two windows.
Mozilla Firefox users
Open Firefox.
Click Menu Firefox Menu Icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
Select History from the drop-down menu, then Clear Recent History...
Next to Time range to clear: click the down arrow and select Everything.
Click on the arrow next to Details to display the list of items that you can clear.
Make sure the Form & Search History box is checked.
Click the Clear Now button.
Tip: You may press Ctrl+Shift+Del to access the Clear Recent History window.
Chrome
Autocomplete does not function the same in Chrome as it does in other Internet browsers, thanks in part to Omnibox. The only way to clear all Autocomplete data in form fields is to clear your Autofill data as well. Some users may not want to do this, however, if they like to store address information using the Autofill feature. Therefore, we find the best solution is to clear unwanted entries individually, but both options are listed below.
Deleting Unwanted Entries Individually
Open Chrome.
Click inside the form field containing the entry you want to delete.
Press the Down Arrow Key until the entry is Highlighted.
Press the Delete key. If the entry is not removed, press Shift+Delete.
Repeat as needed.
Deleting All Autocomplete and Autofill Data
Open the Chrome browser.
Press Ctrl+Shift+Del to bring up the Clear browsing data window.
Make sure only the box next to Autofill form data is checked.
Click the Clear browsing data button.
Safari
Read First: Autocomplete does not function quite the same in Safari as it does in other Internet browsers. The only way to clear all Autocomplete data in form fields is to clear your history data as well. This condition can be problematic as many users only want to clear one of the two. From the drop-down menu that appears, select Show All History.
Once the history window opens, hold the Ctrl key and click the entry to open the context menu.

Click on the Gear Safari gear icon icon, which is located near the top-right side of the browser window.
Click the Reset Safari... link, which opens the window shown below. Uncheck any boxes whose content you do not want to delete and click the Reset button.

Read First: Autocomplete does not function quite the same in Opera as it does in other Internet browsers. The only way to clear all Autocomplete data in form fields is to clear your browsing history data as well. While you can delete a single page from the Opera browsing history, the address for that page will still be autocompleted if you type it in the address bar.
Open the Opera browser.
Click on the Customize menu button at the top left of the Opera window and select the Settings option.
On the Settings window, uncheck the check box for Use a prediction service to help complete searches URLs typed in the address bar.
Click the Clear browsing data button.
On the Clear browsing data pop-up window, select a period of time to delete browsing history data in the Obliterate the following items from drop-down menu.
Note: If you've been using Opera for more than 4 weeks, you may want to select the beginning of time option in the drop-down menu.
Make sure the Browsing history and Clear saved Autofill form data options are checked and click the Clear browsing data button.
